Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mixing
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy for about 2-3 minutes.
- Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the butter-sugar mixture and fold it in until just combined, making sure not to overmix.
Shaping and Baking
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place each ball on a baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between them.
- Press the tops of each ball gently with the back of a fork and optionally sprinkle a bit of sugar on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden but the centers still look slightly underbaked.
- Let cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
