Ingredients

  • 1 store-bought pie crust (or homemade)
  • 3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar (or brown sugar for depth)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg, for egg wash
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Equipment

  • air fryer Used to bake the galette to golden perfection.
  • mixing bowl For combining apples and spices.
  • parchment paper Helps lift and transfer the galette into the fryer.
  • rolling pin For rolling out the crust.
  • Pastry brush Used to apply the egg wash.

Method

  1. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Toss them in a bowl with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Set aside.
  2. Roll out the pie crust on a floured surface to about 12 inches wide. Place on parchment paper.
  3. Spread the apple mixture over the center of the crust, leaving a 2-inch border.
  4. Fold the crust edges over the apples, forming pleats to create a rustic shape.
  5. Brush the crust with beaten egg and sprinkle additional cinnamon if desired.
  6. Preheat air fryer to 320°F (160°C). Place galette in basket and cook for 15–18 minutes or until crust is golden and apples are tender.
  7. Let cool slightly before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
