- Core each apple to create a well for the filling. You can peel the apples if you prefer, but keeping the skin on adds texture and nutrients.
- In a bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, chopped nuts, and dried fruit (if using) until combined.
- Spoon the mixture evenly into the hollows of each apple, packing it gently.
- Place a small pat of butter or coconut oil on top of each filled apple.
Cooking
- Arrange the apples in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overcrowded.
- Cook at 320°F (160°C) for about 15-18 minutes, or until they're tender but not mushy.
- Check for doneness by inserting a knife into the apple's side; it should glide through with ease.
- Let them cool slightly before serving, and enjoy them warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired!
