Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples (Granny Smith or Fuji)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans, optional)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • to taste caramel sauce (optional, for drizzling)

Equipment

  • air fryer
  • Paring knife
  • cutting board
  • Small mixing bowl
  • spoon

Method

  1. Core each apple and slice them into thin wedges, being careful not to cut all the way through to keep the apple intact.
  2. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, oats, and chopped nuts.
  3. Drizzle lemon juice and melted butter over the sliced apples. Gently spoon the sugar mixture into the crevices of the apple slices.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Place the apples in the air fryer basket. Cook for 12-15 minutes, or until they are tender and caramelized.
  6. Let them cool for a couple of minutes after cooking.
  7. Drizzle with caramel sauce, if desired, and enjoy warm!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For reheating, place them back in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes at 350°F. Use tart apples like Granny Smith for best results. Add parchment paper for easier cleanup and adjust cook time for desired tenderness.
