Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound calamari rings (fresh or frozen, thawed)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray For air frying

Method

Preparation
  1. If using frozen calamari, thaw and pat it dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Set up a breading station: In one bowl, place flour mixed with salt and pepper. In a second bowl, whisk eggs. In a third bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with garlic powder, paprika, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Dip each calamari ring into the flour, shaking off excess. Then, dip it into the egg, followed by the panko mixture, ensuring it's well-coated.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. Lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
  2. Place the coated calamari in a single layer in the air fryer basket (you may need to do this in batches). Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
  3. Cook for 6-8 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, shaking the basket halfway through.
Serving
  1. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
