Preparation
- If using frozen calamari, thaw and pat it dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Set up a breading station: In one bowl, place flour mixed with salt and pepper. In a second bowl, whisk eggs. In a third bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with garlic powder, paprika, and a pinch of salt.
- Dip each calamari ring into the flour, shaking off excess. Then, dip it into the egg, followed by the panko mixture, ensuring it's well-coated.
Cooking
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. Lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
- Place the coated calamari in a single layer in the air fryer basket (you may need to do this in batches). Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
- Cook for 6-8 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, shaking the basket halfway through.
Serving
- Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes
For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs. Adjust spices for heat with cayenne pepper or chili flakes. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-4 minutes.
