Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp ground cumin (optional)
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.33 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

Equipment

  • air fryer Used to cook chickpeas to crispy perfection
  • mixing bowl For tossing chickpeas with oil and spices
  • paper towels To dry chickpeas before seasoning

Method

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Rinse and drain chickpeas thoroughly, then pat dry with a paper towel. Remove as much moisture as possible.
  2. In a bowl, toss chickpeas with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cumin (optional), salt, and cayenne. Stir well to coat evenly.
  3. Place the seasoned chickpeas in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
  4. Air fry for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Watch closely near the end to prevent burning.
  5. Remove from the air fryer and allow chickpeas to cool slightly — they will continue to crisp up as they cool.
  6. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature.
