  • 1 can (15 oz) chili beans Choose spicy or mild according to your preference.
  • 1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or a blend)
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots The star of the dish.
  • 1 packet taco seasoning For added flavor.
  • to taste salt and pepper Essential seasonings.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) to ensure even cooking.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Drain excess fat and add the chili beans, diced tomatoes with chilies, and taco seasoning to the skillet. Stir and allow it to simmer for another 5 minutes.
Assembly
  1. In a baking dish, spread the chili mixture evenly at the bottom.
  2. Layer half of the shredded cheese over the chili, then place the tater tots on top.
  3. Cover the tater tots with the remaining cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy and the cheese is bubbling.
  2. Let it rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
  3. Scoop servings onto plates and enjoy!
