Ingredients

Cookie Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter for rich, buttery flavor
  • 1 cup brown sugar adds sweetness and caramel notes
  • 1 cup granulated sugar for that classic cookie sweetness
  • 2 large eggs binds the ingredients together
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour provides structure
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda gives cookies a slight rise
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract adds depth of flavor
Toppings
  • 2 cups chocolate chips for a luscious drizzle on top
  • 1 cup assorted toppings crushed nuts, sprinkles, or crushed candy canes for festive flair

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and continue to mix until it’s fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  2. Let cookies cool before decorating.
Topping
  1. While the cookies cool, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  2. Drizzle melted chocolate over the cooled cookies and immediately sprinkle your desired toppings on top.
  3. Let them set for about 30 minutes before serving.
