For the Casserole Base
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken Use rotisserie chicken for convenience.
  • 1 cup sour cream Adds creaminess and smooth texture.
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix Gives the dish its signature taste.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or mix different types for variety.
  • 1 bag frozen tater tots About 32 oz, for the crispy top.
  • to taste salt and pepper Adjust seasoning to preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, sour cream, ranch seasoning mix, and ½ cup of cheese. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  4. Spoon the chicken mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  5. Evenly distribute the frozen tater tots over the chicken mixture.
Baking
  1. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
  2. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheese on top. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
