For the Glaze

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth. Mix in the egg yolk, lemon juice, and vanilla until well combined.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut the sheets into 4x4 inch squares and prick the centers lightly with a fork.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg white and water. Brush this mixture over the edges of each pastry square.
Assembly
  1. Spoon the cream cheese filling onto the center of each pastry square. Top each filling with your choice of jam, jelly, or chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 15-18 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown.
Finishing
  1. Meanwhile, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze.
