  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar Can be substituted with coconut sugar.
  • 1/2 tsp Salt Essential for balancing sweetness.
  • 1 cup Milk (warm) Almond or oat milk can be used for dairy-free.
  • 1/2 cup Butter (melted) Use margarine for vegan option.
  • 1 large Egg Flax eggs can be used for a vegan substitute.
  • 2 tsps Ground cinnamon This is the key flavor ingredient.
Cinnamon Sugar Filling
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar Combine with cinnamon for the filling.
  • 2 tsps Ground cinnamon For sprinkling over the dough.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk (about 110°F), sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In another bowl, stir together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg.
  3. Mix the ingredients until they form a rough dough. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Rolling and Filling
  1. After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it into a rectangle.
  2. Brush it with melted butter, sprinkle a generous layer of cinnamon sugar over it, and roll it tightly into a log.
  3. Slice the log into 12 even pieces. Take each piece and twist it slightly before placing it into a greased muffin tin.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  2. The aroma will fill your kitchen, and when you take them out, the crispy tops will give way to a soft, tender interior.
