Preparation
  1. Start with a fresh ginger root. Peel and slice about 1-2 inches into thin rounds.
  2. In a pot, bring 2-3 cups of water to a boil.
Brewing
  1. Once the water is boiling, add the ginger slices to the pot. Let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes, depending on how strong you want the flavor.
  2. After simmering, remove the pot from heat. Allow the ginger water to cool slightly.
  3. Using a fine mesh strainer, pour the water into a pitcher or glass, discarding the ginger slices.
  4. If desired, stir in fresh lemon juice or honey to taste.
Serving
