Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined. Let it warm before adding the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and slightly glossy.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring gently until no flour streaks remain.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips if using.
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion out the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges look set but centers are slightly soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
