Ingredients

For the filling
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (such as cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
  • 1 cup cooked protein (like chicken, beans, or beef)
  • 1 cup fresh veggies (such as diced bell peppers, onions, or spinach)
  • 1 package 4 large flour tortillas For a pliable, soft base
For cooking
  • 2 tablespoons butter For a rich, crispy exterior
  • to taste spices (salt, pepper, and garlic powder) To enhance flavor

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine your choice of cooked protein, shredded cheese, and diced veggies. Season this mixture with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste.
  2. Lightly heat each tortilla in a non-stick skillet over medium heat for about 10-15 seconds on each side to make them easier to fold.
Assembly
  1. Place about 1/2 cup of the filling mixture in the center of each tortilla. Be careful not to overfill, as this can make it difficult to wrap.
  2. Fold the sides over the filling and then roll from the bottom up, tucking in the edges as you go to secure the contents inside.
Cooking
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in the skillet over medium heat. Place the burrito seam-side down in the skillet and grill for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Once cooked, remove from the skillet and let it rest for a minute before slicing. Serve warm with your favorite dips like salsa, guacamole, or sour cream.
