Preparation
  1. Gather all ingredients and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter, stirring consistently.
  3. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until melted into a smooth mixture (about 5-7 minutes).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Add food coloring if desired.
  5. Gradually fold in the Rice Krispies cereal, making sure to coat evenly.
  6. Pour the mixture into your prepared baking pan and press down into an even layer. Optionally, sprinkle with Halloween-themed candies.
  7. Allow to cool at room temperature for 30-45 minutes, then cut into squares.
