Ingredients

For the Cake
  • 1 box Cake Mix Opt for low-fat or whole grain for a healthier choice.
  • 2 cups Water Used to dissolve the Jello and keep the cake moist.
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil (or Applesauce) Adds moisture; substituting with applesauce can lower calories.
  • 3 large Eggs For structure; can use egg whites for a lighter version.
For the Jello
  • 1 box Jello Choose any flavor you like for different taste profiles.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven according to the cake mix instructions. Grease a baking pan and pour in the prepared cake batter.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Once baked, allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  4. Transfer the cake to a wire rack and let it cool completely, which takes about 30 minutes.
Jello Preparation
  1. While the cake is cooling, boil 2 cups of water.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in the Jello until fully dissolved, about 2 minutes.
Assembly
  1. Once the cake is completely cool, poke holes all over the top with a fork or toothpick.
  2. Pour the dissolved Jello mix evenly over the top of the poked cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes.
  3. Allow it to sit at room temperature for approximately 30 minutes.
  4. Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to let the Jello set properly.
  5. Once chilled, slice the cake, serve it on nice plates, and enjoy!
